Interstates has completed a number of projects in meat harvesting and processing, dairy processing, and ready-to-eat food preparation. We also have designed and installed electrical systems in breweries, beverage plants, and bottling operations throughout the United States.
Generally, we partner with major equipment manufacturers or a general contractor to provide a turn-key solution for an owner. At other times, we are contracted directly to an owner for our scope of work.
Many of our clients have benefited from our prefabrication capabilities, the installation of certain parts of an electrical system on the equipment before it arrives on site. Our ability to meet tight deadlines continues to build our reputation in this industry.

Interstates was among the early adaptors of electrical technology, installing electrical systems that provided power and automated control to the agriculture industry.
Interstates was also one of the first to use Programmable Logic Controllers to automate flour milling equipment. We have led the way in providing safe and reliable electrical systems to keep plants operating around the clock.

The feed manufacturing and grain handling sectors of the agriculture industry gave the Interstates Companies its start in industrial electrical work. This type of work was in great demand in the Midwest just as Interstates was beginning to transform itself into an industrial electrical firm.
We continue to provide cutting-edge automation systems to the feed manufacturing sector and have aligned ourselves with some of the leaders in the slip-form construction industry that do design-build construction projects.

Interstates has a long history of designing and installing the electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems in oilseed plants. This work is often done in hazardous areas due to the presence of a chemical extraction product, hexane.
Our experience in designing for, and working in, hazardous areas has helped us develop safety into a cultural imperative, rather than just an enforcement or incentive program.

The renewable fuels industry has boomed in recent years, and Interstates continues to provide our suite of services to a number of these projects. Although each plant is unique, owners and developers share a common interest in having them built safely and brought online quickly.
The integrated approach of electrical design, automation, instrumentation, and electrical construction working in collaboration with general contractors, millwrights, and pipe fitters can ensure a safe project and take months off a project schedule.
Our experience speaks for itself as Interstates’ services have been used in over 50 percent of the ethanol and biodiesel plants in North America.

High voltage plants require different studies and expertise than equipment used at lower voltages. We have performed electrical site audits and arc-flash studies for high voltage distribution and industrial plants nationwide, helping clients improve the safety and efficiency of their electrical systems.
Demand for energy has led to the construction of numerous substations and renewable energy system infrastructure. Interstates' consultants have designed substations and collection systems for wind farms, and our knowledge and design capabilities have benefitted clients on tight time frames who want highly technical, turnkey performance.
